Oriole Cafe & Bar | 313 Somerset

We came across this mall by chance. As we were taking the MRT, we noticed that there was a station named Somerset and so happened we walked passed this place and made a detour into the mall to get to the station. As we passed by a construction area that was blocking the entrance of this mall, we realized that this was like the outdoor area of Pavilion where eateries such as Brotzeit was at and we noticed this place on our left called Oriole.

Being on the search for a good cup of coffee in Singapore, we definitely had to sample Oriole's coffee. Charles said that their beans are known to be good. So, we waited to be seated.

Oh, may I add that the hostess was at her very best! I've never seen someone so happy all the time at work and Oriole was packed. She was bubbly and never hesitated even the slightest when Doug asked for sugar. She jumped right where she stood and said, "Let me get that for you!" and she was off. One thing about Singapore that I love is their service industry. You hardly find someone who hates their job. Even when I was in Fullerton Hotel, the cleaner lady in the bathroom smiled politely while holding the door open for me and even when they chat among themselves, they spoke in such joy! I was definitely amazed.

So, back to Oriole Cafe & Bar.

"Conscious coffee. Gratifying global comfort food. Delectable café dining by day, handcrafted cocktails by night - all set to a sublime soundtrack." - Oriole Coffee

One cup of Iced vanilla latte (double shot espresso, cold milk, home - made flavors) for Doug. He loved it! Said it was really fragrant and it reminded him of Thailand's coffee where the coffee was sweet and strong in coffee flavor.

One cup of Iced Cappuccino for me. Love it and the sun was blazing that day so I didn't have a choice but to order a cup of cold coffee but usually I prefer my cappuccino to be hot.

Both cups were SGD5.5 each. Can you believe it! It's super cheap for Singaporeans to leisure in coffee while in Malaysia it's RM10 at least. Am comparing base on earning SGD and MYR.

Charles decided to give their competition coffee a shot. He had Citrus Sin (double ristretto, spiced orange juice, steamed milk) and it came with a slice of orange. The manager of Oriole explained that the coffee is already sweet, infused with orange juice, so he didn't have to add that slice of orange or any sugar. He took a sip and savored the taste. LOL. When you're with Charles, you need to watch his expression when he takes a sip of his coffee. He loves coffee and would go all out just to try something new. Anyway, I tasted it and thought it was rather unique. Something like having chocolate with orange but the taste just went along with the bitterness of the coffee.

The Singapore Affair | Day 1

Singapore was AMAZING! I can't believe 3 days came and went but I am really happy that we did and saw so many things.

Our trip began when our phone buzzed at 5am. Took a trip down to NAZA to meet the Ferrari boys. What a sight! and so the journey down south began with the roaring of each Ferrari, heading out of NAZA towards the sunrise. It was beautiful.

It took us about 4hours, with rest stops and fuel top ups in between. Reached Tuas Immigration stop at 1030am. Had just a tiny bit of delay there because it was our first time into Singapore and we didn't fill up our WHITE forms, which you need to if you are entering Singapore. Stop. Check. Stamp. and we went through! Bought a pass called Autopass and it is compulsory in Singapore. Something like our Touch n Go card where you'll need to reload a certain amount before you enter Singapore and before you head out of the country.

Oh Hello Beautiful!

Immediately after we drove into Singapore, colors began filling the city. The grass and trees were truly greener on this side, the air seemed fresher and the roads were cleaner. Every building in the city was magnificent. We passed by what looked like blocks of buildings stacking up one on top of the other - I thought it was soooo cool!

Our first stop after we've settled into the hotel was lunch at a place called something Dickson and it's a mamak run by a lady who has too much foundation on but she was really nice for pointing us towards the money changer in Little India. The MRT station was about 15mins walk from where we were, so we decided to drop by this place we saw on the way. The place was coincidentally called Wanderlust (B&B and Cafe) for a cup of coffee because the place looked really interesting!

Sadly, the coffee weren't really up to par. We expected them to be better because the place looked really promising. Anyhow, we carried on with our plans to head over to Bugis Station. From the station we took a trip down to Ochard Road where all the malls were.

If you're planning to do the same thing, let me just tell you that you'll need to buy a ticket from the machine (don't line up at the Ticket Counter like we did) and go towards City Hall, where you change to another train, to head over to Orchard Rd. Bugis - City Hall - Orchard SGD1.30

The story : He was pointing at my bag and shoes which I bought from H&M Malaysia. LOL.
Dress from my own shop, Clothes For Fun

The city is just amazing! Malls after malls and they are all along Orchard Road, so you're able to keep walking and walking and get a good look at all the brands and shops you've always dreamt of. My only target that day was to visit their H&M outlet and hoping to catch a glimpse of the OH-SO-FAMOUS Abercrombie and Fitch models but I only manage to see H&M, not the models though - perhaps they were off duty?. Sads.

Came across a place at 313 @ Somerset for awesome coffee. According to Charles, beans by Oriole is legit. So, we sat down for a cup of iced cappuccino, ice latte and their competition coffee special called citrus something which was really good!

Once we were done, we headed back to Bugis Station via Somerset Station. The best thing about Singapore is, you get to travel everywhere with their MRT Trains and it is so affordable and convenient. Hop on, hop off and you're almost there. More or less, you'll have to walk but what's the fun in traveling if you don't walk! Somerset - City Hall - Bugis SGD1.10

After a shower, we took a drive down to Pasarbella @ The Grandstand. It's this amazingly huge food place with really cute and artistic little shops. Will do a feature on it soon after. For now, these will do.

Our Singapore Affair Day 1 ended with two glasses of beer at a small pub which was just around the corner from where we stayed.

Butter Factory 1st Anniversary | Calling all Heroes

Happy 1st Year Anniversary, Butter Factory! The club that I've been to most, just because I love that it is clean, comfortable and the tracks are awesome.

So the theme was Heroes and I went as myself. Lousy, I know but I wasn't feeling too well and didn't have the mood to dress up. That night was fun. Music was good, drinks were great - I ordered Long Island in a jug (can't go wrong there!) and had a blast testing out this new function in my camera (ok, it is not new. Just wasn't explored) that takes photos with trail lights and it was all thanks to Charles, he found it.

Some photos to conclude that night :
